All Shakespeare
All Shakespeare, all the time: essays, guides, quotes, biography, pictures, chronology and more!
The Elizabethan Review
The Elizabethan Review has been offline since November 2001. This is a mirror site, but still
very good. A peer-reviewed journal focusing on the English Renaissance, The Elizabethan
Review publishes new research on the controversies of the period, from the
century-old contention of the Shakespeare authorship to the wars of the
Counter-Reformation.
Entrance to the Shakespeare Web
The best feature is the link to Today in Shakespeare History
The Folger Shakespeare Library
The Folger houses the world's largest collection of Shakespeare's printed works. Sadly, little of this is
available via the internet.
The Illustrated Shakespeare
A most excellent site. Includes detailed biography, the texts (with overviews and related paintings & illustrations).
Mr. William Shakespeare and the Internet
Another good meta-site that includes a Shakespeare timeline and genealogy.
Shakefest for Book Clubs
Especially designed for completely amateur groups to perform. The ShakeFest comprises some of the juiciest passages from 11 plays, together with brief introductions giving context plus a few pointers as to important imagery or themes.
Shakespeare for Actors
A Shakespeare page designed specifically for actors who are preparing to work on a Shakespearean role. Easy access to etexts of all material, pertinent study material to help the actor understand the texts, plus information on Elizabethan customs & English history to further inform the actor about context for the plays.
Shakespeare High
Your Shakespeare classroom on the internet.
Shakespeare Illustrated
Emory University's wonderful collection of links and art that explores nineteenth-century paintings, criticism and productions of Shakespeare's plays and their influences on one another.
Shakespeare's Globe
Official award-winning site of the Globe Theatre. Be sure to check out the the detailed information on
staging the productions that have been produced each year.
Shakespeare Oxford Society Home Page
For the contrarian view -- the society's purpose is to document and establish Edward de Vere as the author of the works of Shakespeare.
The Shakespeare Society
The Shakespeare Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing the enjoyment, understanding, and appreciation of William Shakespeare's works through performance, commentary, adult education activities, and educational support in New York City public schools.
Surfing with the Bard
A great Shakespeare meta-site that is a good place to start exploring Shakespeare on the internet.
Totally Shakespeare
An ambitious effort by a group on a mission to literally bring anything and everything related to Shakespeare to the web through their site; to become truly Totally Shakespeare. With exclusive merchandise promised, as well as original content and commentary, they have a real penchant for pursuing their objective. The non-competitive, reciprocal nature of their Links & Links section is presented with care and in support of other Shakespeare-related sites that they feel are valuable resources.
William Shakespeare 1564-1616
Bartlett's familiar quotations, listed by each play. A good start, but many famous quotations are missing.
